Diablo (DIABLO)
The performer explains that for his strange little miracles to occur, he often enlists the help of "friends" to make magic and mischief. He shows both hands empty, cups them, and calls forth for a spirit to occur. Not on only does the spirit come, but it takes the form of a little demon, and is found nestled in the performer's cupped hands. |

Curse of Tituba (CURSEOFTITUBA)
Several mysteriously shaped and etched objects ("Runes") are emptied onto a table. All of the Runes are turned face up by the performer. A spectator is asked to select a Rune from those scattered on the table and place it face up in the middle of the table. The remaining Runes are used to make a 'pathway' on either end of the selected Rune (a la dominoes). Once all the Runes are used up, the symbols on the ends are noted. Next, a small package and piece of parchment are removed from the pouch. |

The Kobra Kord (KOBRAKORD)
The performer displays a 36 inch length of rope, and hands it out to the audience for inspection. The rope , he claims is the famed "Kobra Kord of Kundu" a legendary rope from India imbued with the powers of the cobra snake! He attempts to recreate the legendary feat in which a snake charmer uses mystic powers to make the cobra rise from a basket. He strokes the rope in his hands twice, three times...nothing happens! Realizing that the magic spell can only be cast by symbolically recreating the cobra, the performer ties a knot at one end of the rope, symbolizing the cobra's head. He strokes the rope again, and this time the rope remains rigid, standing straight up as if possessed by some magic force. At the snap of his fingers, the rope once again goes limp. Again, if desired the rope can be handed out for examination. |

Metamorphosis (METAMORPHOSIS)
The performer presents to the audience a small "caterpillar" seemingly asleep. The caterpillar, the performer explains, represents life.... "In many ways we take the very things around us for granted, never realizing their beauty and potential until its too late. The caterpillar for example. A seemingly plain and ordinary member of the animal kingdom. Yet through its magical abilities to weave silk thread, some of the most beautiful cloth in the world is created." As this is being said, the performer brings out an intriguing piece of paper. He continues, "And yet the caterpillar is seemingly ignored for its skill. It is only recognized for its beauty and majesty once it transforms." The caterpillar is placed in the center of the paper and is folded up. "Sad, but true...we in this world often ignore the beauty and potential of the seemingly plain and uninteresting. Only when presented with an image of glamour and color do we stand in awe!" The paper is rotated three times and opened. A butterfly flies out of the paper...the caterpillar is gone! |

Planetary Glyphs (PLANETARYGLYPHS)
The performer begins..."As you are undoubtedly aware, we are ruled by an incredible synthesis of "choice and chance." Our ability to control certain pathways in our destiny are inextricably linked to forces truly beyond our meager human abilities to comprehend. One of those forces, perhaps one of the most powerful of all, lay far beyond our grasp...our reach. I am of course referring to the vastness of outer space; the cosmos, the influence of the planetary bodies themselves. |
